An update is coming to the popular free-to-play action RPG Path of Exile that will introduce city-building elements, adding a brand new survival crafting component to the game. This update, version 3.25, called "Settlers of Kalgur," will allow players to build towns in the newly introduced "King's Frontier" area. Starting with a tavern and a small farm, players can develop "King's Frontier" by building mines, blacksmiths, ports, and more to expand their settlements.
Building and resource management
Players will be able to hire workers to handle mining, commerce, and other tasks, funded by in-game gold. Special resources must be collected from the barren areas and mines guarded by demons to expand and gain more assets. Workers will collect resources on a timer, which is typical of many free-to-play games.
Players can also build new shops and buildings, which will allow access to traditional features such as weapon fusion and new additions such as the Black Market, where players can use gold to buy random weapons, similar to the gambling system of "Diablo". For a better experience, players can purchase Divine Orbs at RPGStash.com.
Special Boss Encounters
The time invested in developing King’s March will eventually lead to three unique boss invasions exclusive to this season. Players can choose to negotiate with these bosses or fight them, and the fights are challenging but offer exclusive loot.
Quick Access to New Features
According to the developers, players will be able to quickly access the new city-building features shortly after the start of a new season. Once they pass the tutorial and reach their first town center, players will be able to participate in city-building and management mechanics. Grinding Gear Games aims to make this season accessible to both new and returning players, adding a new goal for players while implementing traditional gameplay elements.
Gameplay Enhancements
In addition to the city-building updates, the 3.25 patch will also include various balance changes, updates, and quality of life improvements based on community feedback. Significant changes are planned for the Gladiator and Pillager Ascendant classes. Gladiators will receive increased attack speed and damage buffs, while Pillagers will be replaced by Wardens, a class that gains additional bonuses with elemental attacks. Wardens will have unique abilities such as Tinctures, special flasks that enhance elemental bonuses at the cost of mana.
Expansion’s Endgame Content
The expansion will also enrich the endgame experience with more scarabs as map modifiers, additional map equipment slots, new encounters such as the Nameless Prophet, and updates to existing alliances. Fan-favorite Alliance of Pain mechanics and stages, including the Wildwood, will return.
Release Date
Path of Exile: The Settlers of Kal’gul will be released on PC and consoles at 4am (GMT+8) on July 27. The development team has learned from past expansions to ensure this update feels satisfying and mitigates previous issues, aiming to make the game both challenging and accessible.
